2019 is ON…and you’re ready for some fun. Well good, because from the nation’s coolest beer events to movies, music and cutting edge TV – we’ve got your back big-time.  Plus we’ve another weekend beer pick for you too, because we know you’ll be drinking.

Schlafly’s Cabin Fever 2019 Returns This Weekend (Maplewood, MO) – Bundle up and raise a beer with Schlafly Beer this Saturday, January the 12th at their Bottleworks facility out in Maplewood. Schlafly’s Cabin Fever Festival 2019 commemorates the brewery’s 17 years in the biz and they’ll be celebrating things with over 40+ winter seasonals and winter warmers, all guaranteed to warm this weekend’s winter warriors.

On The Big Screen – Some weeks we struggle to come up with any films we can recommend and this weekend’s new movie opening left us wanting. If you’re in the mood to see a movie about Supreme Court Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg (On the Basis of Sex) your just a better person than us.

If you’re riveted by brave dog stories (A Dog’s Way Home) you’re a much better person than us.

And if you’ve already purchased tickets for Pledge, a brutal torture porn vehicle set in a frat house, you need to seek help immediately.

TV Time & Streaming – Although Amazon Prime’s steaming service remains a sorry second to Netflix, they’ve an intriguing new series that was directed by Mr. Robot’s Sam Email and gotten great reviews. Homecoming stars Julia Roberts as a caseworker at a private facility with government ties that supposedly helps soldiers transition back to civilian life….or not.

The 2019 Hop Cup Return (Le Vista, NE) – This Saturday January 12th, Nebraska Brewing will be hosting the 2019 Nebraska Hop Cup an annual craft brew competition to benefit the Nebraska Craft Brewers Guild. As with previous years, each of the competing Nebraska breweries has created a special one-off beer using only 100% Nebraska grown hops. And all attendees will be able to sample all of the beers and help them choose the winner in the ‘People’s Choice’ competition.

This weekend we’ll be hitting up something innovative that Samuel Adams introduced in 2018 that melds the character of an ale with the moutfeel of a lager. One of the most interesting things that the brewery has ever done Sam ’76 is a 4.7% ABV blend of two active fermentations – a base lager and a base ale – each with their own respective yeast strains.
