Hey it’s the Weekend…and you’re ready for some fun. Well good, because we’ve got all kinds of ideas for you. From the nation’s coolest beer festivals to movies, music and cutting edge TV – we’ve got your back big-time. Plus we’ve another weekend beer pick for you too, because we know you’ll be drinking!
London Calling (UK) – We’ve a growing family of “dangerous hopheads” following us from the United Kingdom, so we’d be sorely remiss to not mention that the 2016 London Craft Beer Festival is taking place over there this weekend. This year’s three-day event (August 13th-14th) is once again being held at Oval Space, an arts venue in East London’s Bethnal Green and will feature as always some amazing beer form the region’s most brilliant craft breweries. The London Craft Beer Festival is a celebration of great craft beer and the passionate artisans that brew them and it absolutely shouldn’t be missed! For more info on this UK beerganza check out: London Beer Fest
On The Big Screen – When the weekend’s biggest movie opening is an R-rated animated flick by Seth Rogen, provocatively named Sausage Party – you know it’s time to pass on the Cineplex – and we suggest you do.
A Serious Craft Beer Throwdown All Weekend Just North Of Portland (Vancouver, WA) – We’ve made no secret that we’re fans of the Vancouver Brewfest. They’re one of our favorite sponsors and they throw world-class craft beer events. And if you read us regularly you already know that they are returning their awesome three-day celebration of beer and community to Esther Short Park this weekend and it’s one of the best around. For a complete rundown on everything going down this weekend, check out, 2016 Vancouver Brewfest and you should probably read up on 4 Hometown Craft Breweries You Don’t Want to Miss, before you go.
TV Time – The USA Network has returned its Emmy-winning and sometime surrealistic cyber-thriller for a second season – and were all in! Mr. Robot stars Rami Malek as Elliot Alderson, an almost autistic cyber-genius whose online assault has taken down a shadowy corporation and threatened the world’s economy.
Peruvians Celebrate their Beer This Weekend! (Lima, Peru) – It’s winter now down in Lima, Peru- as the southern hemisphere is suffering from its cold. But the region’s brewers have come to the rescue with the second ever Craft Beer Sessions: Winter Festival. This Friday and Saturday (August 12th-13th) breweries will show up with two brews, one classic and one special for the festival. Expected are Double IPA’s, Imperial Stouts and even Pisco (traditional Peruvian spirt) aged beer. This will be accompanied by some SKA music and world-famous Peruvian cuisine for the two days of festivities and beer-fueled manes in Lima’s bohemian Barranco district.
OUR WEEKEND BEER PICK
With summer now upon us and temperatures soaring, we’re dialing things back at the ACB compound and Victory has a “warm weather” seasonal that we’ve been hitting a lot lately. One of craft beer’s first Pilsners (and still one of its best), Victory Prima Pils is a 5.3% German-style refresher that we’ve been enjoying for years.
