THE AMERICAN CRAFT BEER 2016 LABOR DAY WEEKEND PICKS

, THE AMERICAN CRAFT BEER 2016 LABOR DAY WEEKEND PICKSHey it’s a long Labor Day Weekend and we’re shutting things down shortly, and back in full damage control next Tuesday the 6th. But before we start drinking, we’ve some fun things you might want to do this weekend. And please, behave yourselves this weekend…we’re begging you!

Celebrate Labor Day Weekend Drinking Locally (Everywhere, USA) – We’re big advocates of “drinking locally” here at ACB. And it’s a long holiday weekend, so why not visit some of those new breweries in your neck of the woods that you’ve been meaning to get to. Nothing drinks better than serious beer from your own region… And there’s no better people to celebrate Labor Day Weekend with than local brewing community friends – Cheers!

On the Big Screen – Unlike other holidays Labor Day isn’t known as a big time for movies. People are at beach, at backyard barbeques, things like that – not so much at the local Cineplex. And because it tends to be slow, Hollywood tends to bring out their lesser projects, films that might have potential but would die up against a big-time release. That’s why we’re interested In Morgan, a smallish sci-fi thriller directed by Luke Scott, a protégé of the famous director Ridley Scott. Starring Kate Mara and a serious supporting cast that includes Jennifer Jason Leigh, Paul Giamatti, Brian Cox, among others, and tells the story of corporate risk-management consultant must decide whether or not to terminate an artificially created humanoid being.

, THE AMERICAN CRAFT BEER 2016 LABOR DAY WEEKEND PICKSGet A Little Woody This Weekend (Bend, OR) – The eighth annual Little Woody Barrel-Aged Beer Festival returns this weekend – and this one screams ROADTRIP! Held next to the Deschutes Historical Museum in beautiful downtown Bend. This two-day beerganza (Sept 2nd-3rd) will feature the best oak, wine, and whiskey-barrel aged offerings for twenty of the region’s most brilliant breweries. There will also be all kinds of educational programs along with live music and artisan food offerings. The festival is a fund-raiser for Bend’ Historical Society and you can find out more about at: Little Woody 2016

TV Time – Netflix has a BIG summer hit, and if you don’t know about Stranger Things, you’ve been drinking too much! Set in 1980’s Indiana and influenced by period films like ET, Poltergeist and Stand by Me, Stranger Things THIS nine- episode horror/science fiction television series was created by the Duffer Brothers (whoever they are) and stars another cultural icon from that era, Winona Ryder. Binge-worthy!

OUR LABOR DAY WEEKEND BEER PICK

We recently received a new limited release from Upslope Brewing that we’ll be returning to this weekend. A seamless melding of blood oranges and Mandarina hops, Upslope Blood Orange Saison is a 6% ABV citrus and spice refresher with a natural sweetness and a surprisingly dry finish.
