According to Brewmaster, Christopher Leonard, “Blackbeard’s Breakfast is probably one of the most challenging beers we’ve ever brewed. Its starting gravity of 23.5 Plato is higher than anything we’ve ever attempted at Heavy Seas. We used eight different malts, including 7 from the U.K. – Amber, Black, Chocolate, two types of Crystal, and Vienna comprise almost 40% of the grain bill. This beer possesses layers of malt flavor. At 10% ABV, with earthy, herbaceous English hops, bourbon-barrel aging, and Chesapeake Bay Roasting Company’s Dark Sumatra coffee, this beer is complex, mysterious, and one heck of a delicious brew.”
