Hey April’s first weekend is almost here…and you’re ready for some fun. Well good, because there’s lots going on. From the nation’s coolest beer events, to movies, music and cutting edge TV – we’ve got you covered. Plus we’ve another weekend beer pick for you, because we know you’ll be drinking.
Bigger Than Texas? (Dallas, TX) – The 2017 Big Texas Beer Fest returns to the Texas Fairgrounds this weekend – so you’ve been warned. This year’s two-day (March 31st-April 1st) exercise in endurance drinking will feature more than 500 beers from 15O of the region’s most exciting breweries, so even the most troubled of you should find plenty to drink. And yes, there will be plenty of men in beards, artisan food and rockin’ entertainment!
On The Big Screen – A classic Japanese comic will come to the big screen this weekend and the good news is it stars Scarlett Johansson so you know that at least it will be pleasurable to watch. Set in the near future, Ghost in the Shell tells the story of major (Johansson) a cyber-enhanced soldier/warrior who’s been programmed to combat the world’s most dangerous criminals. And yes, it does sound like a movie that’s been made many times over, but as we’ve explained, this one stars Scarlett Johansson!
A Serious Celebration of Suds and Sounds (Atlantic City, NJ) – The 12th annual Atlantic City Beer & Music Fest is returning to the Atlantic City Convention Center this weekend and it’s always a rockin’ good time. This year’s two-day (March 31st– April 1st), three session, “beerganza” will feature more than 1000 beers from 150 of the region’s most brilliant breweries and they’re all bringing their serious stash so do check it out!
TV Time and Streaming Time – Right now we’re watching the second installment of The Missing a haunting BBC missing person’s drama, that’s just returned to Starz for a second season. Tchéky Karyo returns as Julien Baptiste and aging (and dying French detective) trying to find a child who’s been abducted in Germany before it’s too late. And there’s also The Walking Dead.
THE ACB WEEKEND BEER PICK
With the weather unseasonably cooler this weekend we’ll be hitting up an always dependable fallback from Elysian Brewing that’s a little more winter than it is spring. Rich, creamy and complex, Elysian Dragonstooth Stout is an enormous 8.1% Imperial Oatmeal Stout with a slight chocolate and citrus finish.
