Love them or hate them, Pumpkin Beers mark the fall season. And few breweries in America are as committed to them as Seattle –based Elysian Brewing.

Not only do they sponsor the Great Pumpkin Beer Festival, the nation’s largest and longest running all-pumpkin beer celebration. They also release four different takes on the pumpkin beer every fall and each couldn’t be more different from the other.

Dragonstooth4.5x6lighterElysian Night Owl Pumpkin Ale – This was Elysian’s first foray into pumpkin-driven ales and it remains as much of a flagship as a seasonal can be. Brewed with almost 7 lbs. of pumpkin per barrel, roasted and raw pumpkin seeds and spiced in conditioning with nutmeg, clove, cinnamon ginger and allspice Elysian Night Owl is a relatively big 6.7% ABV ale that’s rich but thankfully not too sweet.

Elysian Punkuccino – Taking “a road less travelled,” Elysian’s Punkuccino melds two of Seattle’s most beloved drinks, coffee and serious ale, with the season’s best pumpkins to create a pumpkin beer that goes all kinds of directions. Both eye-opening and perfect for shutting things down, Punkuccino is a 6% ABV Coffee Pumpkin Ale that might be perfect for those who are not so sure that they like Pumpkin Ales.

Elysian-The-Great-Pumpkin-Imperial-Pumpkin-AleElysian The Great Pumpkin – The world’s first Imperial Pumpkin Ale, Elysian The Great Pumpkin is a massive 8.4% exercise in “doubling down” that created a style that’s now widely brewed – but never quite duplicated.

Elysian Dark O’ The Moon Pumpkin Stout – A perennial favorite and a 2010 GABF Silver Medal winner, Elysian’s Dark O’ The Moon is a smooth and chocolatey pitch-black Pumpkin Stout with just a touch of cinnamon added to square things. And at 7.5% ABV, this unapologetic and unfiltered cold-weather offering could have you howling at the moon!
