Portico is made up of brewing pals Alex Zielke, Alex Rabe and Ian Chester. The team met over beers during grad school and discovered their mutual infatuation with the beverage. Since then they spent over a year test batching, hosting private tastings with friends, and figuring out how exactly one goes about starting a brewery – there is no blueprint – before finding a home in Waltham.
