Smokin’ – Escort Kills It at Flying Dog’s Festival de Cans!

along with The Brewer’s Art, Brooklyn, DC Brau, Golden Road, Half Acre, Maui, New Belgium, Oskar Blues, Sierra Nevada, and Starr Hill took over Washington, DC’s Legendary 9:30 Club last night and delivered a one-of-a-kind evening that was one of the highlights of a week of awesome events and parties built around this year’s Craft Brewers Conference. Festival de Cans was emceed by comedian Doug Powell, who led a sold-out crowd through a visual retrospective of beer commercials, each one more off-centered and hilarious than the last.

FD FDC web 6001But the high point of the evening was provided by Brooklyn-based, neo-funk band Escort who took the stage sharply at 10 pm and rocked the fucking house! Named one of the top releases of 2012 by Rolling Stone, Escort is fronted by Paris-born diva Adeline Michèle, who immediately got the crowd on their feet as she led the 10-piece neo-disco orchestra (with its brilliant “white-boy” brass and rhythm section) through some serious moves.

Flying Dog’s Festival de Cans was a killer evening – great people, serious beer, and one of the best bands that we’ve seen this year! The only thing missing was a mirror ball.
