You’ve had your fair share of beers. You’ve experimented with different types, crazy ingredients, enjoyed some delectable crafts, and muscled through some repulsive ones. Well if you’re like me, in all this time indulging other people’s wild concepts, you’ve come up with a few of your own. Floating somewhere in-between your to-do list and your daydreams, I bet there exists a brilliant craft beer recipe that will blow minds. It’s time to share those ideas with the world.

Strawberry Basil Wheat, Beersgiving Cranberry Trippel, and Ghost Chile Amber…All of these ideas came from the brilliant mind of John Q. Public, and became a reality thanks to Madison, WI’s newest startup – Mobcraft. These guys intend to create a unique and diverse line of craft brews by harnessing the creativity of the general public. After receiving submissions from all over the country each month, they pick four recipes for members to vote on. At the end of the month, the winner is brewed and available to the public via their taproom or it’s shipped out via an online retailer.

Founding members Henry Schwartz and Giotto Troia are the brains behind the operation. A dangerous combination of entrepreneurial degrees and a passion for homebrewing had them drawing up blueprints before they finished college. After toying around with the brewpub idea, they decided to focus more on the brew, and less on the pub. They wanted to distribute their crafts as far and fast as possible. The result is a brewing operation that will eventually serve customers in 36 states via the good old postal service…less overhead, cheaper beer.

Speaking of beer, these guys have come up with quite the repertoire already. In addition to the few I listed above, they’ve got a Rose Petal Lager, which reminded me of peach tea in a very pleasant way. I can’t think of a better companion on a sunny day than the aroma and aftertaste of a peach orchard infused into a lager.

On the opposite end of the spectrum is Praerie Fyre, their ghost chile concoction. The chiles give this amber a delicious kick, rounding out the malt flavor nicely.
