So many beers, So little time… Who knew that craft beer and cookie mashups would become a thing? Well they have around the mid-Atlantic. Who knew that dessert-themed beers would take on a life of their own? Well that’s happened too – and we’ve some sweet offeringsthat you’ll want to get your sweaty little pre-diabetic hands on.

Cookie-Cutter Beers I (Frederick, MD) – Flying Dog Brewery has teamed up with Baltimore-based Otterbein’s Bakery to create four new, cookie-inspired craft beers that will be released in a holiday 12-pack. The Flying Dog Holiday Collection will include:

Imperial Hefeweizen, inspired by and meant to be paired with Otterbein’s Sugar Cookies.

Oatmeal Raisin Stout, inspired by and meant to be paired with Otterbein’s Oatmeal Raisin Cookies.

Oak-Aged Hazelnut Scotch Ale, inspired by and meant to be paired with Otterbein’s Ginger Cookies.

Roasted Peanut Brown Ale, inspired by and meant to be paired with Otterbein’s Chocolate Chip Cookies. 

The Flying Dog Holiday Collection is available on shelves and on draft now exclusively in Maryland.

Custard in a Cup (Lakewood, NY) – Who fashions a beer after a dessert delicacy like Crème brûlée? Well evidently Southern Tier Brewing does. Released annually in February, Southern Tier Crème Brûlée Stout has been described as “custard in a cup.” This 9.5% ABV Imperial Milk Stout is a dessert unto itself – deep, dark, rich, and decadent.

The Mother of all Dessert Beers (Brooklyn, NY) – Brooklyn Brewery makes an award-winning Stout that many consider the original dessert beer. Brewed since 1994, Brooklyn Black Chocolate Stout is a 10% ABV Imperial that commits to its dark chocolate-ness, where others only hint at it. This winter classic pairs brilliantly with artisan cheesecake, ice cream, fine cheeses, and roaring fireplaces. If you’re new to this whole dessert beer thing – start here.

Cookie-Cutter Beers II (Baltimore, MD) – Our friends at Full Tilt Brewing are returning their iconic draft-only winter seasonal that’s both a stout and a tribute to Charm City’s beloved Berger Cookie. The roots of Baltimore’s legendary fudge and wafer cookie can be traced back to 1835 when German immigrant Henry Berger arrived in the United States and opened a bakery in East Baltimore. The Berger Cookie recipe is now owned and baked by DeBaufre Bakeries and they’ve collaborated with Full Tilt to create the 6% ABV Berger Cookie Chocolate Stout.
