|December 18th, 2015|

Hey it’s Friday…Things are getting festive and you’re ready for some fun. Well good, because we’re all about it and we’ve got all kinds of ideas for you. From the nation’s coolest beer festivals to holidaymovies, music and cutting edge TV – we’ve got your back big-time.  Plus we’ve a special holiday beer pick for you too, because we know you’ll be drinking!

So welcome to our awesome Weekend Picks…

star wars poster full.0.0Craft Beer Festivals Take A Pause For The Holidays – We always try to highlight one or two of the nation’s best craft beer festivals in our weekly picks, but at this time of year we traditionally hit a wall. There are absolutely no noteworthy festivals happening anywhere this weekend so we’re suggesting a different strategy…Why don’t you consider checking out some of the new brewery start-ups in your neck of the woods? Every major city has at least one or two new arrivals that are making some noise – and now’s a wonderful time to visit. Nothing’s better than discovering a great new brewery in your own hometown – and with the craft beer festival scene on a temporary hiatus – this weekend’s a perfect time to do it!

On The Big Screen – Yes the holidays are a terrible time to catch a craft beer festival – but they’re a great time to take in a flick. Plus the biggest movie of the year (and quite possibly the decade) is opening this weekend – and if you don’t what it is – you’re drinking too much. JJ Abrams takes on one of Hollywood’s most cherished franchises in Star Wars: The Force Awakens. And even after months of pummeling pre-release hype, the early buzz from some of the franchises biggest critics has been incredibly positive – so we’ll be in line – as we expect many of you will be too.

AVeryMurrayChristmas posterHoliday TV Time – Netflix sends up the Hollywood’s new Rat Pack and televised Christmas entertainment extravaganzas in general, in A Very Murray Christmas.  The Netflix special, which was directed by Sofia Coppola, who first worker with Murry in Lost in Translation, is an hour of music, comedy, and celebrity pals who play off Murray at his cheesy lounge singer best. The music was overseen by another SNL alumni, Paul Schaffer and people like George Clooney and Miley Cyrus all add to the fun – buts it’s Bill Murry, of course, who owns this thing – and he’s the reason that we love it.

Music / Music / Music – If you like your Christmas music laced with X, (and we do) then you can’t do any better than taking in one of Mannheim Steamroller holiday concert. For a complete listing of where and when they’ll be touching down near you check out: 2015 Christmas Tour
