According to new research, beer drinkers tend to have lower-quality diets, engage in less physical activity, and are more likely to smoke cigarettes. We’ve that, “Words to Drink By” and more.

Karbach Brewing Rebrands 4 Iconic Beers

Karbach Brewing, Texas’s second-largest craft brewery, has rolled out its first packaging update since opening its doors in Houston back in 2011. Four of the brewery’s  most popular brews are now sporting a fresh new look and visual identity.

The craft beer industry is undergoing a massive wave of rebranding and visual updates. This widespread transformation is a calculated response to shifting market economics, changing consumer behavior, and evolving printing technologies

This redesign was a collaborative effort between Austin-based creative studio Helms Workshop and Karbach’s in-house marketing team. And their goal was to create a more unified, modern identity across Karbach’s core lineup of brews.

These four beers, now with updated graphics, represent some of Karbach’s most acclaimed fan favorites:

  • Hopadillo Texas IPA (6.6% ABV): This dry-hopped Texas IPA is loaded with German Magnum, Cascade, Amarillo, Citra, Simcoe, and East Kent Goldings hops. It’s bold, bitter, and built for true IPA lovers.
  • Love Street Blonde (4.9% ABV): A Kölsch-style blonde brewed specifically for the Texas heat, it’s light-bodied with subtle floral notes and a crisp, dry finish.
  • Crawford Bock (4.5% ABV): A smooth, easy-drinking bock made with Munich and caramel malts, perfect for game day or a backyard gathering. This brew also proudly supports the Astros Foundation.
  • Rodeo Clown Double IPA (9.5% ABV): A big, complex double IPA offering notes of toffee, stone fruit, citrus, and pine. It’s brewed for those who always want a little more.

“After 15 years of brewing beers that Texans love, we realized it was time to update our look,” said Chris Meyer, general manager of Karbach Brewing. “The result is a refreshed, more unified identity that brings consistency across the lineup and better reflects the character, quality, and energy behind every beer. It’s the same great beer, just with a new look.”

The new packaging is currently rolling out across Houston, Austin, Dallas, and San Antonio.

Words to Drink By

Beer has always been my drug of choice, I’ve been drinking it since I was nine.”  – Tom Bobak, Founder & Editor-in-Chief American Craft Beer

New Study Finds That Beer Drinkers Have Terrible Diets

Hey what’s wrong with peanuts? Just sayin’.

According to new research presented  by the American Association for the Study of Liver Diseases, beer drinkers tend to have lower-quality diets, engage in less physical activity, and are more likely to smoke cigarettes compared to those who consume wine, liquor, or a combination of alcoholic beverages.

“Alcohol overuse is the leading cause of cirrhosis in the US,” said Madeline Novack, chief resident at Tulane School of Medicine’s internal medicine residency program and lead author of the study. “Lifestyle changes are key to managing and preventing these conditions, starting with understanding the link between alcohol use and poor nutrition.”

The study surveyed 1900 US adults alcohol consumers, 38.9% of them beer purists and according to SciTechDaily, found that beer drinkers fared considerably worse than win and/or spirits consumers when it comes to a heathy and nutritious diet.

According to Novak, one of the key reasons that beer drinkers eat so terribly is the kinds of foods served more commonly in barroom settings (foods high in fat and salt and carbs…lots of processed meats). Wine on the other hand pairs more conveniently when paired with meals complete with meat, vegetables, and dairy.
