California Pilsner Named International Champion
Trumer Pils, which is produced in Berkeley, California has been named “Champion International Beer’ at the 2025 Australian International Beer Awards . Trumer Pils was first awarded a Gold Medal in the German-Style Pilsner category, then was named Best Pilsner of the Competition, and finally competed against all styles of beer from outside of Australia to be named Champion International Beer.
We are extremely humbled and honored to receive the Champion International Beer and Best Pilsner Trophies at this year’s competition,” said Lars Larson, Brewmaster at the Trumer Brewery. “It’s always an honor to be recognized in the Pilsner category; but this is our first win for Best Pilsner and Champion International Beer. This is a tremendous accomplishment for our brewery and for Trumer Pils.”
The Australian International Beer Awards one of the largest annual beer competitions in the world, oversaw almost 2,300 entries from 391 breweries in 21 countries this year.

Czech Beer Exports Soar As Locals Sober Up
Beer production in the Czech Republic reached a 15 year high in 2024 according to numbers provided by the Czech Breweries and Maltsters Association, with Czech breweries producing around 4.2% more than they did in 2023.
But according to the Drinks Business. “a new trend is taking place across the Czech Republic, driven by two key elements: exports and a rise in demand for non-alcoholic variants. While the demand for Czech exports is growing worldwide, locals are drinking less beer in general and much of that growth is in non-alcoholic beer.
For the fourth year in a row beer consumption declined Czech Republic, a country renowned for having the highest beer consumption per capita in the world, thanks to a volatile economic climate and increased taxation which soared from 15% to 21%, imposed on its draught beer products.
At the same time, Czech breweries are producing more non-alcoholic beers than ever before. Buzz-free beer production has more than doubled since before the pandemic and non-alcoholic beer now responsible for up 10% of all beer sold on the Czech market.
