Today is Election Day and with Pennsylvania attracting so much attention, it’s the perfect time to celebrate Philadelphia’s thriving craft beer scene with five beers from the region worth traveling for.

We The Brewers (Downingtown, PA) – Of all the breweries based around Philadelphia, Victory Brewing may be the most well-known. And they’ve a year-round that’s to die for, Brother! Named in homage to the city the brewery calls home, Victory Brotherly Love Hazy IPA is a 6% ABV India Pale Ale with a tropical fruit character that finishes nicely with a touch of apricot. And a portion of its proceeds re-invests in their own backyard, helping local communities.

A Session IPA From (Philadelphia, PA) – Fiercely independent, Philadelphia Brewing is renowned for adapting old world beer styles with modern brewing techniques to create unique beers that represent Philadelphia proudly. And they’ve an India Pale Ale that’s grounded in the city they love. Assertively hoppy yet approachable at the same time, PHL Session IPA keeps things bright and light at 3.9% ABV.

A Philly Phavorite (Exton, PA) –  Founded by home brewers Kevin Finn, Mark Edelson and restaurateur Kevin Davies in Newark, DE in 1996, Iron Hill Brewery & Restaurant has blossomed from one restaurant and brewery, to 16 locations up and down the East Coast, including Pennsylvania, Delaware, New Jersey and South Carolina. But they’ve also a production facility near Philly that’s home to something special. Crafted with specially curated flaked oats and wheat, Iron Hill Philly Phavorite is a 6.7% ABV New England IPA with BIG tropical fruit flavors and piney woodland aromatics.

Proudly Made In (Philadelphia, PA) – If ever there was a brewery that keeps its backstory at a minimum, its Human Robot in Philly. But one thing’s for sure, they make one of the best European-style lagers we’ve ever had. Beautiful bready malt balanced with a kiss of floral spice and decoction mashed with floor malted Czech pils malt, Human Robot Czech 10° is $.2% ABV Pale Czech Style Lager that’s exclusively hopped with Bohemia’s gift to the world, Saaz hops.

Local (Philadelphia, PA) -Two Locals Brewing is Philadelphia’s first black owned brewery located in the UCity section of West Philadelphia. And they’ve a fall seasonal that we’re big fans of. Brewed with all German ingredients and crafted using a double decoction process, Two Locals Oktoberfest is a 5.4% ABV Festbier that’s not as malty as a traditional Marzen and has a nice touch of bitterness.
