The beer biz never sleeps at American Craft Beer. And here’s just some of what’s been happening while you were drinking away the weekend.

Sam Adams Returns Ruth Bader Ginsburg Beer

In 2019 Samuel Adams teamed up with the Pink Boots Society and crafted a special Brut IPA that commemorated International Women’s Day and honored Ruth Bader Ginsburg at the same time.

(Outlasted the Brut IPA style)

“We are dedicating this brew to feminist icon Supreme Court Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg the brewery explained at that time, “and naming it When There Are Nine, inspired by her famous response to the question “When will there be enough women on the Supreme Court?”. According to the announcement Samuel Adams had wanted to name the beer Brut Bader Ginsburg (we wish they had) but its legal team dissented.

And following Ginsburg unexpected death last week, he Boston-based brewery is re-releasing the beer, this time in cans with artwork that features Ginsburg’s symbolic dissent collar and glasses. And as before a portion of the beer’s sale will benefit the Pink Boots Society.

“We lost a good one, and together will raise a toast to honor the inspiring and powerful woman’s unwavering commitment to justice and lasting impact on society,” Sam Adams stated in a news release.

Interestingly, Ruth Bader Ginsburg’s legal tenure lasted far longer than the Brut IPA style which is barely produced anymore.
