Getting Zapped (Longmont, CO) – Oskar Blues has announced a new Steep Coast Mountain IPA Series release, a single-hop line of India Pale Ales that explores different varietals, and this time the Zappa hop. As complex and provocative as its musical namesake, Oskar Blues Steep Coast Zappa Double IPA is an 8% ABV India Pale Ale that like Frank Zappa is unafraid to  push the envelope.

A Transatlantic Collaboration (Athens, GA) – Creature Comforts Brewing has teamed up with Manchester, England’s Cloudwater Brew Co. to craft something special. Built on the breweries’ shared philosophies, Creature Comfort/Cloudwater Anicca is a 7.5% ABV Rustic Saison that was brewed with apples aged in oak barrels for more than 15 months. Heidi Geist, of the 48 Beer Project, designed the label artwork for Anicca. Geist’s project has the mission of traveling to 48 breweries in 48 different states to create 48 different pieces label artwork for each, over the course of 48 weeks.

A Pils That Chills (Portland, OR) – It’s supposed to be a scorching weekend with record-braking temps and Von Ebert Brewing has the perfect antidote.  Stylistically, a mash-up of a Japanese Rice Lager, an American “Pilsner,” and the Northern German Pils, Von Ebert Rels Pils is 4.5% ABV hybrid Lager that was brewed to deliver maximum refreshment as the temperatures soar.

Into The Baha (San Diego, CA) – Green Flash Brewing who like Stone Brewing is considered to be one of the pioneers when it comes to the West Coast IPA., has gotten into the lager game with a new seasonal release. With its overt nod to the Mexican beer tradition, Green Flash Baja Bound is a 5.2% ABV Lager with spicy and bready aromatics and a sweet and smooth ambience.
