2018 In Hops (Yakima, WA) – The Hop Growers of America recently released its 2018 Statistical Report and here are some last year’s hop highlights…

Hop production, which is so dependent on just the right weather, was up last year in spite of declining yield. Average yields per acre declined slightly to 1,943 lbs. per acre in 2018 the “result of growing conditions and newly planted acreage combined.” But in spite of those “yield per acre” declines last year’s production still surpassed 2017’s by 910,200 lbs.

US hop acreage has increased 94.6%, from 29,683 to 57,772 acres in 2017. And Citra Hops commanded the most acreage in 2017.
