New Cannabis Beer Sells Out In Just Four Hours

Keith Villa

That’s what craft beer pioneer Keith Villa, who created the Blue Moon brand in 1995, recently reported. Which bodes well for Ceria Brewing and Villa’s new line of cannabis beers.

Here’s what we know…

In 2018 Keith Villa announced that he was taking his decades of brewing experience in a different direction, and that along with his wife Jodi, he was launching Ceria Brewing a company committed to developing beers that substituted a THC high for the more traditional alcohol buzz.

And at that time Villa made it clear that he was 100% in and intended to champion a new kind of drinking experience…

“CERIA will be brewed just like an alcoholic craft beer to maintain its beer taste and aroma, but will then be de-alcoholized prior to the infusion of cannabis.”

Last December the THC-infused beer finally made its commercial debut at select marijuana dispensaries in Colorado where, it sold out in just four hours…And Villa  told Yahoo Finance YFi PM, that one reason he thinks that his cannabis beer will be successful is that it tastes like beer rather than pot from a bong…

“You don’t taste cannabis you taste great tasting beer with the effects of cannabis and that’s really critical because we found that the taste of cannabis is really polarizing. Some people love it, but most people don’t really care for it.”

Ceria Brewing’s Grainwave is described as a “refreshing, medium-bodied ale brewed with blood orange and coriander and infused with THC for a new spin on a Belgian classic.”

Hardly inexpensive, the nonalcoholic cannabis beer will cost $7.95 per 10-ounce bottle. It contains 5mg of THC (the psychoactive compound found in the cannabis plant) and comes packaged in a silver (as opposed to brown) bottle.

And as Villa explained to the Denver Post  Grainwaves’ THC level was specifically designed to deliver a high that is pleasant, relaxing and mellow…

“You should feel good but you won’t get too stoned…What better way to enjoy a Broncos game, especially when they’re losing, than to have a couple of these and feel good?”

Due to overwhelming demand for his first batch of Ceria beer, Villa is, according to Yahoo Finance, not only building out his Colorado operation but also expanding its “distribution to California and Nevada dispensaries within the next three months.”
