Beer Alert – New Winter Seasonals, Serious Stouts, and Barrel Aged Exotics!

Early fall gives way to winter in our latest compilation of serious beer releases…And we’ve five new craft beer directions (most of them ENORMOUS) that you’re gonna want to chase down this season.

Greedy Good Drinking (Denver, CO) – River North will be debuting the 2017 vintage of their original barrel-aged imperial stout this Saturday, November 11^th at the brewery’s taproom. This year’s Barrel Aged Avarice is an 11.5% dry Belgian-style Imperial Stout, that spent 10 months maturing in whiskey barrels.

Looking Into The Abyss (Bend, OR) – Deschutes is returning one of the most lauded beers in their portfolio this month as part of their uber-impressive Reserve Series. Deschutes The Abyss 2017 Reserve is a MASSIVE 11.1% ABV Imperial Stout brewed with black strap molasses and licorice, dry-spiced with cherry bark and vanilla bean, aged in bourbon, wine and new Oregon oak barrels. This is an extremely limited release so be ready!

Ninkasi Spaces Out – (Eugene, OR) – Back in 2014, Ninkasi became the first craft brewery to have sent brewer’s yeast into space and successfully returned it to earth. And now, three years later, they are returning the spacy stout. Ninkasi Ground Control 2017 is a rich and complex 10% ABV Imperial Stout brewed with Oregon hazelnuts, star anise, cocoa nibs, and the famous ale yeast east that survived a trip to space and back!

From Cacao To Christmas (Escondido, CA) – Stone Brewing has just shipped a limited edition seasonal that’s about as close as they get to an actual holiday release. Ingeniously introducing the tones of coffee-infused Mexican hot chocolate to beer, Stone Xocoveza is a rich 8.1% ABV spiced Mocha Stout that’s fueled on a complex menu of cocoa, coffee, pasilla peppers, vanilla, cinnamon, and nutmeg.

Getting Your Just Desserts (Lakewood, NY) – Southern Tier has a new cinnamon bun-inspired desert beer (!), that should pair well with your next fireside outing. Southern Tier Cinnamon Roll is a creamy 8.6% ABV American Strong Ale that was brewed lactose to keep things milky and spiced with fresh cinnamon.
