February is ON and American craft brewers are addressing things with a daker roster of beers that should pair brilliantly with the season.
Pace Yourself (San Diego, CA) – AleSmith Brewing has a new addition to its year-round portfolio that we can’t wait to get our hands on. inspired by the brewery’s legendary Speedway Stout. but in a lighter, more sessionable format AleSmith Pace Car is a smooth and uber-creamy 6% ABV Nitro Coffee Stout with rich and seductive coffee and chocolate tones, complemented by notes of roasted barley and subtle toffee character.
Packaged in 16oz 4-pack cans and draft, AleSmith Pace Car Nitro is now available at the brewery’s taproom as well as online and at many retail outlets in California, Pennsylvania, Ohio, Minnesota, Texas, Illinois, Washington, Oregon, Arizona, Virginia and Washington DC.
Darkness, Darkness (Fort Collins, Colorado) – Odell Brewing has returned an Irish Dry Stout that’s incredibly true to style. An Irish Dry Stout is basically a black ale recognized for its pronounced roasted character and distinctively crisp, dry finish. Despite its dark, opaque appearance—which often hides deep ruby highlights—it is traditionally a sessionable, lower-alcohol beer

And in keeping with tradition, Odell Old Doods Stout is a robust, yet smooth 5% ABV Irish Dry Stout with rich notes of roasted barley, dark chocolate, and hints of coffee, a slight sweetness and mild bitterness.
A Welcome Return (Kansas City, MO) – Boulevard Brewing has returned a classic after more than a decade on hiatus. Inspired by ultra-creaminess that have long defined the nitro-infused style Boulevard’s Nitro Dry Stout is a 4.9% ABV Irish Dry Stout with roasty malt aromatics, dark chocolate and espresso notes, a crisp, dry finish and subtle bitterness at the backend..
We’ve recently seen a surge in popularity and demand for Irish-style dry stouts, and luckily, we had a familiar recipe sitting in our archives. Nitro Dry Stout is a legacy favorite that long-time fans of the brewery will remember well,” said Boulevard’s brand manager, Adam Hall. “Each sip offers an honest, heartfelt experience brewed with patience, purpose and deep respect for the style that inspired it.”
Boulevard Dry Stout was first produced in 1996, but its return comes a new packaging option: 16-ounce Nitro cans, thanks to updated packaging technology. And we couldn’t be more excited that’s it’s now a year-round offering.
