News that the second largest mass-market brewer in the US had entered into a partnership with the 191-year-old Pottsville brewery’s, broke this morning…

D.G. Yuengling, the oldest operating brewing company in the United State and the largest craft brewer in the nation according to the Brewers Association’s definition, said it would operate separately under the joint venture agreement with Molson Coors.

A BREWING and DISTRBUTION deal, the new partnership will be led by a board of directors consisting of members from both companies and enable the brand to expand far beyond its current 22 state distribution footprint.

And the press release we received was a lovefest…

Gavin Hattersley, President and CEO of Molson Coors Beverage Company was equally gushy about the deal which is expected to take effect in the second half of 2021…

“This is a huge growth opportunity for Yuengling, it’s a huge growth opportunity for Molson Coors, and we’re going to make a whole lot of Yuengling fans out west really happy. Today, three storied brewing families and their collective 18 generations of brewing excellence, have come together with one goal for the future – a future focused on growth. That is worth celebrating.”

And even though all of the beer produced for the expanded territory will be produced at Molson Coors plants, ” Yuengling, Vice President of Operations and 6th generation family member, Jennifer Yuengling insists that “fans can expect the same Yuengling recipes and great taste they have come to love for more than 190 years.”
