WeWork, an international shared workplace company, has begun limiting it’s free beer as an all-day perk at its offices in NYC…And we can’t say that we didn’t see that move coming.
Here’s the deal…
WeWork is a tremendously successful network of shared workspaces. It’s New York City’s largest office tenant and has locations in 64 cities around the world.
The company provides subscription-based shared workspaces for startups, small businesses and freelancers at prices that start at $190 a month. And In many locations, those workspaces come with nifty perks, perks like unlimited free beer.
But in an era when the #MeToo movement has thrown a spotlight on inappropriate office behavior, often fueled by drinking, MarketWatch is reporting that WeWork is testing new rules in New York City that limit its once bottomless free beer perk.
WeWork members in NYC will now be limited to four 12-ounce glasses of beer available on tap per day, according to a copy of the email sent to members obtained by CNN Business.
Members can still swipe their building key cards to gain access to the company’s taps, but they’ll be cut off once their daily limit is met.
And as an additional restraint, the WeWork taps are now only accessible during the hours of 12 pm to 8 pm. So WeWork members who’ve grown accustomed to a bagel and a beer in the morning, will have to rethink their breakfast routines or go elsewhere…
The trial is expected to last between 30 and 90 days and then be evaluated….
But given that its members will still be able to tap into FOUR FREE BEERS A DAY, and enjoy the office space experience in a costly location like New York City at a much lower cost than most businesses incur, we’d be surprised if WeWork’s New York locations experienced a major exodus…just sayin.’
And speaking of free beer, last February there was
And also free beer in September…
