Summer is ON and American craft brewers are addressing things with intriguing new beers you’re gonna want to have around as things heat up.
The 2023 Firestone Walker Invitational Beer (Paso Robles, CA) – The Firestone Walker Invitational, one of California’s hottest tickets, is taking place this weekend. It’s a legend on the West Coast and the finest brewery sponsored craft beer festival that we’ve ever attended.
And the thousands lucky enough to have secured a ticket to the Invitational have already descended upon the Central Coastal town of Paso Robles which has led to another predictable phenomenon: “No Vacancy,” the inspiration behind this year’s festival beer.
Crafted along with Salina, CA-based Alvarado Brewery, Firestone No Vacancy is a 6.5% ABV new age West Coast Style India Pale Ale that combines the instincts of the Salina, CA-based craft brewery’s My Thai IPA with a layer of Firestone Walker flair. No Vacancy is out at tap accounts throughout the Central Coast, as well as at Firestone Walker locations in Paso Robles, Buellton and Venice.
Brewed With Father’s Day In Mind (Exton, PA) – June 18th is Father’s Day and the Iron Hill Brewery has whipped up the right beer. Fermented with Omega’s Lunar Crush yeast to layer to complement the beer’s big citrus tones Iron Hill Dad’s Got Jokes Juicy Lager is a 5% ABV Limited Release that was brewed with actual dad jokes. That’s right, Iron Hill collected the silliest one-liners from dads and dad joke enthusiasts via social media then spelled them out in malt, flaked oats and hops in a beer that’s not ashamed of being “corny.
Dad’s Got Jokes Juicy Lager is available in uber-gracious 16oz cans on Friday, June 9, at Iron Hill restaurants PA, DE & NJ Iron Hill followed by the draft release at all Iron Hill locations on June 15.
Taking A Punch (St Louis, MO) – Schlafly Beer has returned its first new summer style in many years. Schlafly Hazy Punch IPA is a 6% ABV India Pale Ale punch brewed with hops that lend a juiciness to the brew which is further amplified by the addition of Cara Oranges and pineapple.
“This beer is several years in the making and has quite the backstory on Schlafly’s efforts to stay at the forefront of new and experimental hops,” said Schlafly Lead Brewer Jared Williamson. “It features the newest hop variety from Australia, Eclipse, and the yet to be named experimental hop HBC-586 from Yakima, along with well-known Citra and Mosaic. The flavor bursting hops offer juicy notes of mandarin and other citrus flavors.”
