Washington State’s Largest Beer Festival Cancelled Due To Coronavirus

, Washington State’s Largest Beer Festival Cancelled Due To Coronavirus

(Cancelled)

Everyone in the Pacific Northwest craft beer community was expecting it, but last Friday’s announcement that the Washington Brewers Festival has been cancelled was just the latest blow in an onslaught of bad news due to COVID-19.

The good news, ( yep there’s some good news) is that according to the Washington Brewers Commission, who sponsor the state’s largest annual beer festival which takes place in Redmond, Washington every June, the organization is still holding out hope that the legendary beer gather might potentially return later this year…

This assessment from The New School

“The postponement of the Washington Brewers Festival comes after the extension of the state’s school closures and bar and restaurant dine-in service ban extensions. If and when things do open up, large 10K plus events like these will likely still not be feasible for some time.”

The Washington Beer Blog broke the unfortunate news and we are republishing an edited version of the April 10 announcement…

Dear Friends of Washington Beer

We hope you’re staying safe and healthy during this unprecedented time. Under the current federal and state “stay at home” regulations, the Washington Beer Commission has had to make some difficult decisions regarding its craft beer tasting festivals you all know and love.

Today we announce the postponement of the 15th Annual Washington Brewers Festival, which was scheduled for June 19-21, 2020 at King County’s Marymoor Park. This annual celebration of Washington-brewed craft beer on Father’s Day weekend is a time-honored tradition for thousands and we are looking into the possibility of producing a like event at a later date this summer (August/September).

For those that have purchased a ticket(s) to this year’s event we will be sending you an email with instructions for a full refund. You will also have the option of retaining the ticket(s) for the potential postponed event or entry to any day of the June 18-20, 2021 event.

We greatly appreciate your continued support of the Washington state craft beer industry as we all face this unprecedented challenge. Please stay safe at home” and continue to enjoy Washington Beer responsibly.

Washington was the first state in the US to feel the wrath of COVID-19…And its state-imposed closures and social distancing measures have recently led to data suggesting its spread was slowing

Just not enough for the Washington Brewers Commission to feel comfortable keeping the event scheduled for June…
