THE AMERICAN CRAFT BEER WEEKEND PICKS
THE AMERICAN CRAFT BEER WEEKEND PICKS
Hey it’s Friday… and you’re ready for some fun. Well good, because we’re all about it and we’ve got all kinds of ideas for you. From the nation’s coolest beer festivals to movies, music and cutting edge TV – we’ve got your back big-time. Plus we’ve a weekend beer pick for you too, because we know you’ll be drinking!
So welcome to our awesome Weekend Picks…
Play Ball (Washington, DC) – Two wonderful craft beer & cuisine events take place every year at the National Building Museum in the Washington, DC. SAVOR happens every June – and the other event takes place tomorrow Saturday, March 4th, when the 12th Annual Beer Institute Brewer’s Ball returns to the Great Hall. This gala event will feature amazing craft beers from 35 of the region’s best breweries and delectable cuisine from 30 of DC’s most popular and exciting restaurants. The Brewer’s Ball is craft beer, cuisine, music, and fun in a spectacular setting. It’s a one-of-a-kind event that shouldn’t be missed, and its proceeds help fund a very deserving cause…

Bockfest Over The Rhine (Cincinnati, OH) – The 24th annual Bockfest is taking place this weekend in Cincinnati’s Over-the-Rhine and its brewery districts. This three-day event (March 4th-6th) is the oldest and the largest in the United States and it celebrates both the city’s immense brewing heritage and the coming of spring. It all kicks off tonight with a goat-led parade that weaves through the city’s neighborhoods – and ends up at Bockfest Hall for the blessing of the ceremonial first keg. (C’mon it doesn’t get any cooler than that – does it?) The Hall, which will remain open all weekend, will feature live entertainment, food, walking tours, and, of course, plenty of bock beer. For more info on one of the country’s most unique beer festivals, be sure to check out: Bockfest 2016.
TV Time – The SyFy network has a new long form series based on Lev Grossman’s best-selling fantasy series that’s as inventive as it is entertaining. Not unlike Harry Potter, The Magicians takes place in a secret school for magic but that’s where the similarities end. This school is in upstate New York -and its students more recognizably contemporary – so yes there’s plenty of sex and drugs.
