Hey it’s Friday… and you’re ready for some fun. Well good, because we’re all about it and we’ve got all kinds of ideas for you. From the nation’s coolest beer festivals to movies, music and cutting edge TV – we’ve got your back big-time.  Plus we’ve a weekend beer pick for you too, because we know you’ll be drinking!

So welcome to our awesome Weekend Picks…

, THE AMERICAN CRAFT BEER WEEKEND PICKSPlay Ball (Washington, DC) – Two wonderful craft beer & cuisine events take place every year at the National Building Museum in the Washington, DC. SAVOR happens every June – and the other event takes place tomorrow Saturday, March 4th, when the 12th Annual Beer Institute Brewer’s Ball returns to the Great Hall. This gala event will feature amazing craft beers from 35 of the region’s best breweries and delectable cuisine from 30 of DC’s most popular and exciting restaurants. The Brewer’s Ball is craft beer, cuisine, music, and fun in a spectacular setting. It’s a one-of-a-kind event that shouldn’t be missed, and its proceeds help fund a very deserving cause

, THE AMERICAN CRAFT BEER WEEKEND PICKSOn The Big Screen – With last week’s Academy Awards now in the rear mirror, Hollywood is once again looking forward and this weekend’s new movies look better than last weeks. Tina Fey stars as a journalist covering the war in Afghanistan in the comedy/drama Whiskey Tango Foxtrot. And Gerard Butler returns as Secret Service head Mike Banning (Olympus Has Fallen), who uncovers a plot to assassinate the world’s leaders in London Has Fallen.

Bockfest Over The Rhine (Cincinnati, OH) – The 24th annual Bockfest is taking place this weekend in Cincinnati’s Over-the-Rhine and its brewery districts. This three-day event (March 4th-6th) is the oldest and the largest in the United States and it celebrates both the city’s immense brewing heritage and the coming of spring. It all kicks off tonight with a goat-led parade that weaves through the city’s neighborhoods – and ends up at Bockfest Hall for the blessing of the ceremonial first keg. (C’mon it doesn’t get any cooler than that – does it?) The Hall, which will remain open all weekend, will feature live entertainment, food, walking tours, and, of course, plenty of bock beer. TV Time – The SyFy network has a new long form series based on Lev Grossman’s best-selling fantasy series that’s as inventive as it is entertaining. Not unlike Harry Potter, The Magicians takes place in a secret school for magic but that’s where the similarities end.  This school is in upstate New York -and its students more recognizably contemporary – so yes there’s plenty of sex and drugs.

, THE AMERICAN CRAFT BEER WEEKEND PICKSA Craft Beer Festival Louisiana -Style (Lake Charles. LA) – The South’s craft beer scene is as vital and impressive as any region in the country and the spotlight will be on it this weekend.  The 2nd Annual Louisiana Winter Beer Festival returns this Saturday, March, 5th, to the historic Calcasieu Marine National Bank building in Downtown Lake Charles. This beautifully restored early 20th century bank building will be home to the region’s most exciting and cutting-edge brewers and they’ll all be serving up their best so you absolutely don’t want to miss it.
