, The American Craft Beer Weekend Picks – July 5, 2013The 2013 Seattle International Beer Fest returns today to the Fisher Pavilion and lawn in Seattle center. This three-day event (July 5th-7th) will feature a “Grande Beer Garden” with more than 200 beers from 16 countries, including many hard-to-find “exotics.” Live bands will be performing all weekend and food is being provided by some of Seattle’s best restaurants. VIP tickets with free beer tickets and express entry are available. Festival proceeds will benefit Pet Cross. Johnny Depp’s latest quirk-fest is opening at movie theaters this weekend and we’re not sure what to think. The advance word on The Lone Ranger has been plagued by rumors of astronomical budgets and out-of-control production, and the images that we’ve seen of Depp’s take on Tonto look scary-weird so who knows. But his take on Captain Jack Sparrow in Pirates of the Caribbean was brilliant – so you never know…

Rockville, Maryland’s beloved Baying Hound Aleworks is throwing its 3rd annual Baying Hound Birthday Bash this weekend (July 5th-7th) and they’re inviting everyone in the mid-Atlantic to drop by and celebrate. It’s going to be catered and we’re talking cake and beer – so this sounds fun. They will even have a dunk tank, equipped with a brewer inside – and if you sink one of them on your first throw, they’ll buy you a pint! Our Long Holiday Weekend Beer Pick

The Commons Brewery will be releasing its collaboration with Widmer Brothers this Saturday, July 6th at 2:00 PM at the brewery. Kindred Dry Hopped Red Farmhouse Ale uses their farmhouse yeast and experimental X-431 hops from Widmer. The result is a dry, fruity Belgian Ale with an assertive hop back-end that sounds awesome. Kindred will be in capped 750ml bottles for $8, available only at The Commons Tasting Room and Widmer Brothers. A small amount will be available on draft at The Commons, Widmer Gasthaus, and select bars in Portland, OR.
