, The American Craft Beer Weekend Picks – January 3, 2014On the Big Screen – David O Russell’s follow-up to last year’s enormously popular Silver Linings Playbook was released over the holidays and features four of our favorite actors. American Hustle stars an almost unrecognizable Christian Bale who put on 60 lbs to portray Irving Rosenfeld, a 70s con man with a hideous comb over. Amy Adams plays his seductive British partner, Sydney Prosser. Jennifer Lawrence plays Irving’s wild card wife and Bradley Cooper stars as the FBI agent working on a sting involving New Jersey politicians and the mafia in a story that was partially based on 1978’s famous Abscam scandal.

Bacon and Beer – What’s Not To Like? (Harrisburg, PA) – The Federal Taphouse, central PA’s respected craft beer emporium, is celebrating the first weekend of 2014 by throwing a Craft Beer & Bacon Bash (what’s not to like!) this Saturday, January 4th from 3:30 – 7 pm.

Check out these pairings and try to tell us you don’t want to be there tomorrow:

-Tröegs Troegenator with deviled eggs & applewood-smoked bacon
– Victory Hop Ranch & Liberty Bell Ringer with Asian pork belly sliders
– Liquid Hero (Imperial Stout) with maple-glazed bacon
– Yards George Washington Porter with devil on horseback (?)
– Stoudt’s Belgian Triple with guanciale flat bread
– Otto’s Apricot Wheat with pancetta and white bean bruschetta
– Roy Pitz Ludwig’s Revenge with chicharones
– Old Forge Resolution Rye Stout with BLT on a stick (Yes!)

Just Sail Away (Miami, FL) – With a major snowstorm barreling across the Midwest and Boston looking at what could be more than a foot of snow, maybe an exit plan is in order -and we’ve got an idea. Jam Cruise 2014 is a musical voyage featuring artists as diverse as Galactic, The Wailers, and Thievery Corporation that will be heading out of Miami on Saturday for four days of sun, music, and hanging with you favorite artists.
