The Big Apple Celebrates Craft Beer In A Big Way! (NYC) – The New York City Brewers Guild presents the sixth annual New York City Beer Week starting this weekend and running through March 2. Signature events include tonight’s Opening Night Bash in the Vanderbilt Hall at Grand Central Terminal that’s featuring obscure and rare beers from the region’s best breweries and the Closing Beer Brunch at Houston Hall on March 2, which is rumored to be providing detox coupons to help get you back on your feet after a week of “too much fun.” For more info on what is fast becoming one of the best beer week events in the country, check out: NYC Beer Week

, The American Craft Beer Weekend Picks – February 21, 2014On The Big Screen – The movies that are opening this weekend exemplify the kind of dreck that studios release in late February – films that you only go to because you’re nursing a severe hangover – which is exactly why were bringing them to your attention. Paul W.S. Anderson is the director of the successful Resident Evil series and his newest film that opens this weekend takes him into historical realms. Pompeii tells the tale of a gladiator who finds himself in a race against time to save his true love from a corrupt Roman Senator against the backdrop of Mount Vesuvius’ impending eruption. As we’ve explained, this movie may demand that you’re hungover. If historical hijinks and massive explosions don’t do it for you -there’s always 3 Days to Kill starring Kevin Costner as a dying Secret Service agent on one last assignment. Again, a hangover is mandatory if you’re going to spend your time with either of these films.

, The American Craft Beer Weekend Picks – February 21, 2014Strong Medicine (Omaha, NE) – With Omaha Beer Week soon to wrap up, it appears to not be going out quietly. On Saturday, March 22, the eighth annual Extreme Beerfest will be ratcheting things up big-time. Now one of the Midwest’s largest craft beer festivals, this afternoon event will be featuring more than 300 strong beers and even the weakest of them will be well above 7% ABV – so fasten your seat belts – and kiss your bum goodbye! Rocking the Caribbean (Miami, FL) – With most of the nation’s music tours sidelined till the weather warms up, these kinds of voyages sound perfect. The Rock Boat 2014 heads out of Miami tomorrow on the Norwegian Pearl for 4 days of warmth, open air, music, and community. This year’s Rock Boat features music from Sister Hazel (who started the whole Rock Boat thing over a decade ago) as well as performances by Collective Soul, DJ Soulman, Tonic and others.
