We can’t believe it’s September…So much has happened this year and it doesn’t appear that things will be slowing down any time soon. But no worries – Rumor Mill is always on the case, keeping you plugged in to all the craft beer news that matters. Plus we’ve an all-important update on what we’ve been drinking lately and you absolutely don’t want to miss that.
Flying Even Friendlier Skies (USA) – The days of having to choose between a Bud light and a Heineken while your flying are so over. Smart airlines are now offering all kinds of serious beer options. Delta is currently featuring craft beers from Ballast Point, Blue Point, Brooklyn Brewery, Lagunitas, Newburyport, Samuel Adams, Stone and SweetWater.
Man On A Mission (Narvon, PA) – People have callings and for the 31 year-old Pennsylvania resident, Darrin Wingard, it’s to drink a different beer every day – something the dude’s been doing for over three years. The Daily Times News is reporting that he’s become a bit of a celebrity (that’s better than a loser) -and that he chronicles his exploits in his Instagram account, newbeeraday, and “posts photos of each beer with notes about what was going on at the time of consumption, in case you care.
Craft Beer at Kroger (USA) – Move over Whole Foods, craft beer on tap is now available at selected Kroger grocery stores throughout the country. USA Today is reporting that although the food chain had beer stations in Arizona for years – they’ve recently introduced them in their Atlanta, Columbus, Lexington, Memphis, Little Rock, Richmond, and Los Alamos stores.
Amazon Launces Same-Day Beer Delivery (Seattle, WA) – Amazon Prime Now, the online wunderkind’s one-hour delivery service, quietly added beer and wine to their “Seattle region-only” program last week. The Consumerist is reporting that “Instead of making a big to-do about adding beer and wine delivery to Prime Now for the first time in the U.S., Amazon stealthily snuck a few mentions of the beverages into a statement about the expanded services.”
What We’ve Been Drinking Lately (Washington, DC) – We’d like to thank all the breweries who ship us beer from time to time. It’s always great to sample the brews that we write about and helps to give us a better feel for what’s happening out there. And last night we hit up a flagship year-round that New England-based Newburyport Brewing recently sent us. NPBT’s Newburyport Green Head IPA is a 7.2% ABV west coast-style India Pale Ale that’s assertive and unapologetically hop-forward.
