Firestone Walker Expands Their Compound (Paso Robles, CA) – Things have been fairly quiet at Firestone Walker ever since they announced their new partnership with Belgian-based Duvel Moortgat, but now we are beginning to see some of the benefits of that new relationship. The brewery announced this week that they’ll be embarking on a major expansion of their Paso Robles facility that they hope to complete in 2017. Plans for the new brewhouse include state-of-the-art brewing technologies as well as new energy and water recovery systems. And most importantly this upgrade will allow them to keep up with the increasing demand for their products. Firestone Walker recently earned the title of Mid-Size Brewing Company of The Year at the Great American Beer Festival for a record fourth time in less than 10 years.
Beer Fallout (Rockville, MD) – Video game publisher, Bethesda Softworks, home to a broad portfolio of role-playing games including the popular Fallout series will be rolling out a beer that they brewed with Carlsberg to celebrate the much anticipated release of Fallout 4.

What We’ve Been Drinking Lately (Akureyri, Iceland) – We’d like to thank all the breweries who ship us beer from time to time. It’s always great to sample the brews that we write about and helps to give us a better feel for what’s happening out there. And last night we hit up something we really enjoyed from Iceland’s Einstök Beer Company. Einstök Pale Ale is a 5.6% “Artic Ale” that was brewed just 60 miles south of the Artic Circle.
