The American Craft Beer Rumor Mill – May 20, 2015

We can’t believe it’s May already…So much has happened this year and it doesn’t appear that things are going to be slowing down any time soon. But no worries  Rumor Mill is always on the case, keeping you plugged in to all the craft beer news that matters. Plus we’ve an all-important update on what we’ve been drinking lately and you absolutely don’t want to miss that.

BEER BIKE BILL PASSES CALIFORNIA SENATE (Sacramento, CA) – California legislators have advanced a bill that would allow “beer bikes” (a growing new crop of bike buses that allow up to 15 people to pedal at slow speeds) to operate on the state’s roads. The Silver Ink is reporting that the “legislation made it clear that the cities have a say on whether they allow alcohol on board of the beer bikes or not.”

NEW CRAFT BEER TRAIL TO LAUNCH IN MICHIGAN (Kalamazoo, MI) – On May 28th, Discover Kalamazoo will be launching the “Give a Craft” beer trail – a self-guided tour of the county’s 11 craft breweries. Mlive.com is reporting that “the beer trail was designed after other beer trails throughout the country, especially the Bend Ale Trail in Bend, Oregon.”

, The American Craft Beer Rumor Mill – May 20, 2015WANT A CRAFT BEER BREWING GIG? (Auburn, CA) – Knee Deep Brewing is looking for a new production person to join their amazing team and maybe that’s you. If you’re interested, you should send an e-mail to [email protected], with the title “Production Brewer” in the subject line. Be sure to include a resume along with your salary requirements.

CRAFT BEER RCLAIMING URBAN ARCHITECTURE (Asheville, NC) – New craft breweries are saving and repurposing buildings that had been all but abandoned across the nation  and Ashville, North Carolina, is a perfect example of this growing trend. New breweries there have reclaimed “car dealerships, an auto parts shop, a cinema, a movie studio, and more” reports the Citizen-Times and “they had all been discarded before being reclaimed to make and sell beer.”

WHAT WE’VE BEEN DRINKING LATELY (Washington, DC) – We’d like to thank all the breweries who ship us beer from time to time. It’s always great to sample the brews that we write about and it helps to give us a better feel for what’s happening out there. Last night, we hit a summer seasonal that we recently received from Anchor Brewing. First brewed in the summer of 1984, Anchor Summer Wheat is a 4.5% American-style filtered Wheat Ale and a great beer for this time of year.
