The American Craft Beer Rumor Mill – March 30, 2016

Yikes, April is nearly here… and clearly nothing is slowing down anytime soon. But no worries, Rumor Mill is always on the case, keeping you plugged in to all the craft beer news that matters. Plus we’ve an all-important update on what we’ve been drinking lately and you absolutely don’t want to miss that.

, The American Craft Beer Rumor Mill – March 30, 2016New Digs For River North (Denver, CO) – After six months in exile from its original home (a victim to Denver’s insatiable real estate development) River North Brewery returns with new digs and a quest for vengeance…or just brewing. This Saturday, April 2nd, the brewery will open its new expanded facility at 6021 Washington Street, Unit A in Denver. At close to 9,000 square feet, the new location is double the size of the original. It includes a new brewhouse, more tanks, and a larger taproom.

Brews Cruise (Miami, FL) –Carnival Cruise Line’s newest ship, the Carnival Vista, will be the first in the industry to offer craft beers brewed right onboard. Yessssssssssssss!

Words To Drink By (Los Angeles, CA) – “Rule-breakers are excoriated until they are embraced… If you can’t handle the hatred, work for the man.”

Bob Lefsetz – the Lefsetz Letter

London Calling (UK) – The number of new craft breweries opening in London has reportedly reached a new high in 2015 – jumping 24% over 2015,with 36 new breweries coming on line just last year. I guess that makes our friends at Beavertown and The Kernel the “elder statesmen” of this exciting scene.

, The American Craft Beer Rumor Mill – March 30, 2016What Was Behind The Cigar City Sale? (Tampa, FL) – Anytime a craft brewery the caliber of Cigar City, decides to sell a controlling interest of their company to another entity, there are going to be questions and concerns. But the Tampa Bay Times recently sat down with the brewery’s founder, Joey Redner and asked all the right questions in An Irreverent Craft Brewery Grows Up, and it’s an interesting read.

What We’ve Been Drinking Lately (Washington, DC) – We’d like to thank all of the American craft breweries who’ve shipped us beer from time to time. It’s always great to sample the brews that we write about and it helps to give us a better feel for what’s happening out there. And last night we hit up a terrific limited release from Anchor Brewing that got the job done. Anchor’s Flying Cloud San Francisco Stout is a 7.4% dark and intense “export-style” stout with surprising complexity and a rich creamy head.
