The American Craft Beer Rumor Mill – March 16, 2016

Yikes, we’re halfway through March already… and clearly nothing is slowing down anytime soon. But no worries, Rumor Mill is always on the case, keeping you plugged in to all the craft beer news that matters. Plus we’ve an all-important update on what we’ve been drinking lately and you absolutely don’t want to miss that.

, The American Craft Beer Rumor Mill – March 16, 2016Tavour Delivers (Seattle, WA) – When we run into a craft beer business that we think is doing something interesting – we like to spread the word. And what Tavour is doing is pretty interesting…Tavour is a designer beer delivery service that allows you to pick only the beers that you care about, which makes sense. Basically you sign up for Tavour’s regular emails, to receive updates on serious beer offerings (trust us!) – things you’d never find in your daddy’s Beer of the Month Club.

We tried their service and ended up choosing a gold medal-winning Gose from Reuben’s Brews, So Happens It’s Tuesday, a barrel-aged Stout from The Bruery, and Steve Austin’s Broken Skull IPA from El Segundo. These we’re exotics that we’d never see out our way – the kinds of beers that serious beer collectors trade for. Bottom line – these guys are on to something, and we can’t help but be fans…

Words To Drink By (Los Angeles, CA) – “Fame doesn’t keep you warm at night, it’s not even a decent friend.”

Bob Lefsetz – Writer & Music Industry Analyst

Stone Brewing Leaves The Farm (Escondido, CA) – Stone Brewing has closed down its beloved 19-acre organic farming operation. The property, which was used to grow the vegetables, fruit and herbs that are used in Stone’s local restaurants, just wasn’t deemed profitable, and the brewery chose to end things on March 10th.

, The American Craft Beer Rumor Mill – March 16, 2016More Reason To Take Up Running (Eugene, OR) – Ninkasi Brewing is making a new beer with runners in mind. The new IPA is called Beer Run (how could they not?) And the brewery has been traveling across the country to running events and soliciting feedback from runners, to ensure that they nailed it.

What We’ve Been Drinking Lately (Washington, DC) – We’d like to thank all of the American craft breweries who’ve shipped us beer from time to time. It’s always great to sample the brews that we write about and it helps to give us a better feel for what’s happening out there. And last night we hit up a favorite from Magic Hat that got the job done. Magic Hat Electric Peel is a 6% Grapefruit IPA that’s brewed with Apollo, Centennial hops and tethered to a medium malt body that’s electrified with real grapefruit peel.
