, The American Craft Beer Rumor Mill – December 4, 2012Idle Hands Lead to Enlightenment (Everett, MA) – Idle Hands Craft Ales has announced a merger with Lowell, Massachusetts-based brewery, Enlightenment Ales  and Enlightenment’s owner Ben Howewill join the Idle Hands team as Head Brewer and the company’s first full-time employee. And going forward, both brandswill be brewed, bottled, and distributed out of the Idle Hands facility in Everett. Idle Hands and Enlightenment are seen to complement one another with the former focusing on traditionalist Belgian and German style ales and the latter on its bière de champagne flagship and farmhouse artistry.

Founders Doesn’t Flounder (Grand Rapids, MI) – Clearly The Founders Brewing Company is on a roll this year with almost too much going on. The company, which recently completed a $26 million expansion and currently distributes in 26 states according to MLive.com, is now projecting a 200,000 barrel production target for 2014.

Rock & Brews Hits Hawaii (Maui, HI) – Rock & Brews has announced that KISS rock legends Paul Stanley and Gene Simmons, co-founding partners in the rock-themed restaurants, plan to open a new restaurant in the beach-side, historic community of Paia on Maui in January. The new craft beer restaurant was designed by Maui architect Jim Niess, along with teacher, spiritual leader, and artist Al Lagunero of Maui serving as a consultant on Hawaiian culture and art and will be serving Paia’s largest selection of craft beers.

Gluten-Free From the True North (Montreal, Quebec) – Glutenberg is proud to announce the inauguration of its new brewery in Montreal. This $2 million investment occurred only two years after the company was founded. Thanks to its new installations, Glutenberg will be able to respond to the increasing demand for its gluten-free beers in the United States.

Infidel Brewing Closes (Warren, ME) – We are sorry to see that after only eight month in business, Maine-based Infidel Brewing has announced that they are closing and posted this explanation on their Facebook page:

Sorry folks but due to some unfortunate personal circumstances we will not be able to continue with the brewery business. My humble thanks and apologies to all who supported and encouraged us. Maybe down the road when some more favorable conditions present themselves I will give it a go again. We will make deliveries until our stock is gone. Again I am truly sorry.
