Sun King Looks to Expand its Reign (Fishers, IN) – The City Town Council is considering an economic development agreement this week that will bring Indiana’s second-largest brewery to Fishers. If approved, Sun King Brewery will build its second craft brewery on 12.76 acres, bringing an estimated $19.5 million in regional economic impact and 27,000 visitors to Sun King’s proposed facility and the Fishers community. Sun King opened its doors in downtown Indianapolis in 2009 and has expanded its capacity by eight times since then. It’s good to be king!

Brew Hub Announces Grand Opening (Lakeland, FL) – After missing a slated June opening, September 4^th is going to be the big kickoff for the innovative project that is Brew Hub. With a focus on “partner brewing,” Brew Hub has already inked contract brewing agreements with four craft beer companies: Cigar City Brewing, Green Man Brewing, BJ’s Restaurants, and Orange Blossom Pilsner LLC. The company hopes to rollout the first commercial beers in early October; however, there will be plenty of beer at the grand opening, as Brew Hub plans to purchase beer from its partner brewers, serve up test brews from the company’s 8-barrel pilot brewing system, and feature several “guest brews.”

There’s a Little Something “Extra” in Corona Extra(Chicago, IL) – Constellation Brands Beer Division announced yesterday that it was voluntarily recalling select 12 oz. clear glass bottle packages of Corona Extra beer in the U.S. because they may contain small particles of glass. Calls to Constellation on comment that a further recall is needed of ALL Corona for being skunky were not returned.

Beer is The Answer. What Was the Question? (Richmond, VA) – We were lucky enough to get a tour of Richmond’s long-awaited The Answer Brewpub from An “Mekong” Bui himself last weekend during the Mekong Cigar City Tap Takeover. Slated to open this fall, the space is immense and will give a much needed reprieve to the crowds that pack Mekong. The brewery level and taproom will be opening soon, with a possible 2^nd story cigar room and speakeasy in 2015.

Stone Brewing Co. in San Diego celebrated its 18th anniversary this past weekend with the release and festival for its 18th Anniversary IPA. With an ABV of 8.5% and brewed with El Dorado hops for a lemony, tropical-fruit freshness, we’re sure it was delicious in the San Diego sun. Look for it quickly, because it won’t be around for very long!
