The American Craft Beer Quick Hits – May 4, 2015
We blame the industry for this… It used to be that when we wrapped up our Weekend Picks on Friday, we could coast through the weekend. There was little need to check in for updates – things were pretty much done. But clearly all that’s changed.
So here’s some of what’s happened in the world of craft beer while you were off enjoying yourselves.
BrewDog To Columbus? (Columbus, OH) – Scottish brewer BrewDog has announced that they’re planning to build a production brewery in Columbus. Welcome news for a city still stinging from not landing Stone, who ended up choosing Richmond, Virginia for their new destination brewery.

Craft Beer Crime? (Boston, MA) -State regulators on Wednesday accused Craft Beer Guild LLC, of unfair trade practices that limit consumer choices and harm small brewers.” According to the Boston Globe, the company “violated a state rule against offering inducements to retailers to stock its products over those of competitors and a state law that prohibits distributors from charging different prices for the same products.”

Beer Week Alert! (Miami, FL) – As part of our ongoing effort to help you plan were you need to be drinking each and every week, Quick Hits runs regular “Beer Week Alerts” and there are several that just started. Madison Craft Beer Week kicked off last Friday and runs through the 10th. Columbus Craft Beer Week also started last Friday and Minnesota Craft Beer Week launches today.
