New Belgium Delays Tasting Room Opening And Tours In North Carolina (Asheville, NC) – The Citizen-Times is reporting that New Belgium has decided to back the opening of East Coast facility’s tasting room until March – and hold off on brewery tours until April. The 6,000 square foot, Liquid Center, which will include indoor and outdoor seating, was originally announced to open this month.

Sending Peyton Manning Off Right (Denver, CO) – Having just quarterbacked a win at Super Bowl 50, Peyton Manning told reporters that he’d be celebrating after the game by drinking a Budweiser (or two) with teammates, in the locker room. But the Brewers Association decided that the dude deserved better! So they sent him a care package of craft beer from some of Colorado’s best breweries including Dry Dock, Upslope, Left Hand Brewing, Steamworks and Denver Beer Company and approachable options from around the country.

, The American Craft Beer “Presidents’ Day” Quick HitsEast European Hamlet Approves Plans For Public Beer Fountain (Zalec, Slovenia) – Talk about “your tax dollars at work!” UPI is reporting that a “town in Slovenia will moving forward with plans to build a nearly $400,000 fountain that dispenses local beers (Yes!!!!). A few of city’s legislators opposed the plans on grounds that “the money could be better spent on other projects, including improving the local water supply,” – but they were sensibly overruled by the majority, who see the beer fountain as “good government in action.”

 

Anchor Gets Their Man (San Francisco, CA) – Anchor Brewing has appointed Matt Davenport as their new President , The American Craft Beer “Presidents’ Day” Quick Hits– and we’re happy for him (and for them). Battered Fish Defense Fails (Friendship, WI) – A Wisconsin officer, who stopped A 75 year-old driver back in October for a broken tail light, noticed alcohol on his breath. The driver, John Przbyla, denied drinking alcohol “but told the deputy that he had eaten beer battered fish that night,” according to WPDH. But his “beer battered defense” didn’t convince a judge confronted with a breathalyzer test well beyond legal standards, and the fact that “Prybyla has had nine previous drunk driving convictions.”
