We blame the industry for this… It used to be that when we wrapped up our Weekend Picks on Friday, we could coast through the weekend. There was little need to check in for updates – things were pretty much done. But clearly all that’s changed.

Shocker – Brooklyn Brewery Now Open To Outside Investment (Brooklyn NY) – Long seen as fiercely independent, Brooklyn Brewing now appears to be having second thoughts and may be actively courting outside investment firms to help them , The American Craft Beer Quick Hits – August 24, 2015expand. The Globe and Mail reports that Brooklyn Brewing is “one of more than a dozen U.S. craft brewery companies thinking about accessing the deep pockets of institutional investors.”

Deschutes Gets A New Look (Bend, OR) – Deschutes is introducing a new look to their packaging and it’s hitting stores now.  According to The New School, “all of the brewery’s bottles, cartons, and tap handles will be sporting the new, updated look, which was designed to better reflect the quality of the beer inside, as well as increase shelf presence and display impact.”

, The American Craft Beer Quick Hits – August 24, 2015Big Beer Burns! (Macon, GA) – Milwaukee’s Best was on fire last week and a hot conversation for many in Georgia. The Telegraph is reporting that a beer truck “emblazoned with pictures of Milwaukee’s Best beer,” went up in flames last Wednesday – and that unfortunately “the beer was saved.”

British Brewers Wake Craft up To the Name Game (UK) – Craft beer is “Hot, Hot, Hot” in the United Kingdom with almost three new breweries coming on line every week. But with success also comes possible litigation woes and now British brewers are waking up to the fact that craft beer names aren’t necessarily endless and they are registering to trademark their unique beer names in record numbers according to Munchies.
