Is Big Beer In The Hunt For A Craft Acquisition In New England? (Portland, ME) – Speaking at the New England Summit in Portland last Friday, the BA’s Dick Cantwell said that “it’s inevitable that the country’s largest breweries, such as AB InBev, will fish in Maine or New England waters for an acquisition,” according to the Bangor Daily News. “I’m certain that AB is looking for a brewery in the region,” said Cantwell (who resigned from Elysian after they were purchased by AB InBev). “When they were trying to get me on board with that whole plan, they said, ‘Oh yeah, we’re going to do that in every region.'”

Slacker Beer Looks To Broaden Its Hipster Base (Los Angeles, CA) – Eugene Kashper is part of the equity team that purchased the hipster fav, Pabst Blue Ribbon back in 2014 – and he’s got big plans for the iconic sub-premium beer brand. He told the NY Times, that they’ll be dusting off of some old recipes and are looking to reintroduce some brand names they own, in an effort to capitalize on craft beer’s localism thing.
