“This place is just what I dreamed of – a top-notch destination devoted to celebrating craft beer.” Greg Koch, Stone Brewing

Stone Brewing’s latest outpost, Stone Brewing – Napa, has officially opened the doors to its striking new home in California’s beautiful wine country.

It is on…

Housed in a an iconic 1877 stone building (no pun intended) Stone’s newest extension features a 9,500 square-foot artisan restaurant and 10 barrel brewery offering visitors locally-brewed beers and a dining experience that is ‘uniquely Napa’ and ‘all Stone’ at the same time.

Stone, Stone Brewing Napa Opens In Wine CountryThe new brewery and restaurant features two stories including an upstairs seated bar and downstairs tasting/growler fill bar, a fireplace lounge and outdoor seating overlooking the Napa River.

Glass walls offer views into the brewery and expansive doors and windows create an indoor/outdoor feel overlooking Downtown Napa.

The Stone Napa’s interior incorporates stone, steel and glass and embraces the imperfections of the historic building.

The Borreo building, named for the family that formerly owned the stone structure, is an Italianate Renaissance design made from native-cut stone. It was completed in 1877 and has been vacant since 2001.

Stone Napa’s new state-of-the-art 10-barrel brewing system will enable its brewers to continue the longstanding tradition of innovation and creativity.

The brewing program will be helmed by Steve Gonzalez, Stone’s six-year veteran Small Batch Senior Manager of Brewing & Innovation. Gonzales also had a former career as a winemaker, making him uniquely qualified for the  necessary ‘terroir’ that comes with crafting serious beer in the heart of California wine country.

In his new position Gonzales will be exploring directions like wine-barrel aging and beer recipes that include grapes and interesting botanicals from the region’s diverse ecology. So it’s all very exciting stuff if you care about beer.

Stone, Stone Brewing Napa Opens In Wine CountryThe food will also be all Napa…

Stone’s uber-local food philosophy will serve as a cornerstone of their new Napa location with a dining experience that incorporates artisanal offerings with a special a focus on environmental responsibility and high-quality ingredients.

Its kitchen will be overseen by Chef Chris Kurth, a San Diego native who has honed his art over the years at renowned dining locations…places like The US Grant, L’Auberge Del Mar and The Lodge at Torrey Pines.

And Stone will remain committed to local and small-farm organic produce from the Napa region in its support its eclectic menu of world-inspired cuisine.

This from Stone Brewing executive chairman & co-founder Greg Koch…

“Restoring this historic building has been a complex process which we have been careful to steward with the utmost respect…So it is with much pride, and no shortage of relief, that we finally open the doors knowing that we took the time to do it right.

Seven years after I first stepped foot in the Borreo Building, this place is just what I dreamed of – a top-notch destination devoted to celebrating craft beer.”
