Spanish Brewer Mahou San Miguel has announced plans for the creation of a collaborative brew hub in Spain where domestic and international brewers can come together to share ideas and develop new beers using the latest technology.
Created with the needs of the craft beer industry in mind, the new €11 million space will, according to the Drinks Business, be available to “nomadic” beer makers, brewers that do not have their own brewery but are in search of growth.
Mahou San Miguel new facility, which is being designed to attract brewers from around the world, will be ‘state-of-the-art’ and able to explore craft beer’s most exciting trend’s including “oxidative aging, cold storage of unpasteurized products, and lager, ale, hybrid or mixed fermentations.”
Conceived in collaboration with Javier Aldea, the founder of Nómada Brewing, a Spanish craft brewer that Mahou bought a 40% stake of in 2016, the new brewing center, which hopes to start operations in 2019, will be located next to Mahou San Miguel’s production center in Córdoba.
