Samuel Adam’s Founder Jim Koch is taking heat from a Boston area mayor for ‘sucking up’ to President Trump…and he’s now boycotting his beer.
Here’s the deal.
Last week, Jim Koch joined a group of businessmen at a dinner with President Trump in New Jersey. And he took that opportunity to praise the admiration’s tax cuts, noting that they would help his company compete with foreign breweries.
And given today’s political climate it’s not surprising that his comments would elect a reaction…
One of those having “none of it” was, Somerville, Massachusetts Mayor Joseph A. Curtatone (no doubt not a Trump fan) who took to twitter to rage that he’d now be boycotting Sam Adam’s beer…
I will never drink Sam Adam's beer again! https://t.co/UCywb9I7xE

But he was just getting started…
We need to hold these complicit profiteers of Trump's white nationalist agenda accountable ! https://t.co/UCywb9I7xE

Clearly the mayor was on a roll…
Hey Jim Koch! While you were thanking Trump for your tax break, did you happen to express any concern for the families separated under his cruel and inhumane immigration enforcement policy? @SamuelAdamsBeer https://t.co/UCywb9I7xE

Again not surprisingly. the Mayor got flamed for his tweets by pro-trump supporters and he defended his comments a few hours later according to The Boston Globe by suggesting that former Sam Adams drinkers will remember that “Jim Koch sucked up to Trump.”
