Russian World Cup Now Flooded With Beer!

Russian retailers were clearly caught off guard on the amount of beer necessary to keep World Cup visitors at bay. But they’ve regrouped and now there are “countless beers. Countless. A lot. Many. Plenty,” according to one World Cup visitor who looked like he’d been drinking for days.

Here’s the deal…

In addition to the C02 shortage which has impacted the World Cup beer supply Europe and UK pubs in particular, Russians who largely don’t drink beer to the same degree that many countries do, didn’t understand how significant the demand might be..

“We just didn’t think they would only want beer,” one Moscow waiter reported to Esquire, his restaurant ran out of beer almost immediately and had to wait more than 24 hours for fresh deliveries while the country’s wholesalers scrambled to have beer air-dropped in.

In the city of Nizhny Novgorod, where Sweden played South Korea, the taps ran dry before the match even started when more than 7000 Swedes flooded the city’s pubs almost all of them demanding beer according to the Independent.

But now that sad state of affairs is but a memory (at least for those World Cup fans that have any memory left at all).

Cup, Russian World Cup Now Flooded With Beer! After pulling international strings, Russia is now flooded with beer, more beer and even more beer.

Reuters is reporting that “a {Russian} salesman named Kirill said that demand for beer was booming and that stores had to constantly renew supplies.

“The closer you go to the center, the more you will find that beer is being bought up at a spectacular rate,” said Kirill, who was not authorized to speak on behalf of the store.

“Fans drop in, buy beer and leave, Kirill wispered, before being quickly whisked away in unmarked government automobiles by stern looking officials in dark blue overcoats who refused to comment…

So for now the Great Russian Beer Drought” appears to be over…

“Countless beers. Countless. A lot. Many. Plenty,” said one World Cup from Mexico, when he was asked by The Independent just how much beer he had been drinking.
