Left Coast Brewing’s New Small Batch Hub (San Clemente, CA) – One of Orange County’s oldest breweries, Left Coast Brewing, has announced that they’ll be opening an experimental craft beer hub in Irvine this December.
The 5,300-square foot Irvine brewery, is being designed as a separate operation, independent of Left Coast’s 30-barrel facility in San Clemente, and as a way for the brewery to experiment with more fragile styles including those New England style hazy IPA’s
Left Coast’s Irvine Hub will also include 25 taps, 10 of them dedicated to experimental beers produced on site, and a fast-casual Kansas City- style barbecue restaurant.

Craft Beer’s Growth Matures (Boulder, CO) – The Brewers Association released their Mid-Year Growth Results yesterday. And the BA’s Chief Economist Bart Watson’s analysis of where the craft beer industry stands, although positive, was hardly bullish.
Craft Beer Volume Grew 5% as of June 30th, and is no longer showing the double-digit growth that many of us in the biz have grown accustomed to. And with an astounding 5,562 American breweries currently online, it’s encouraging that we are seeing any growth at all.
According to the BA’s Chief Economist Bart Watson “the growth pace for small and independent brewers has stabilized at a rate that still reflects progress but in a more mature market. Although more difficult to realize, growth still exists.” But with an additional 2,739 “breweries in planning,” potentially entering the marketplace in 2017 who knows where the year-end numbers are going to end up?
