Strikes are inconvenient…So is the coronavirus. But one thing has led to the other at an AB InBev-owned brewery in Belgium…

We’ve that, Voodoo Ranger’s online election, and more!

New Belgium’s Voodoo Ranger IPA Wants Your Vote

As the 2020 election season approaches, New Belgium Brewing’s uber-popular Voodoo Ranger IPA brand is giving beer fans the opportunity to vote for the brand’s first IPA rotator of 2021 in an election of its own, something the brewery is calling Vote Voodoo: The Thirsty Games.

It’s a month-long election that features several online polls where voters can determine the characteristics of the next Voodoo Ranger IPA movie star, and which action hero Agent 77 IPA and Captain Dynamite IPA will prevail.

Throughout the month of September, consumers will have the opportunity to vote on various qualities the prevailing Voodoo Ranger IPA will embody such as the character, his personality traits, the beer itself, and more.  The prevailing hero will have to win a series of challenges testing his wit, ingenuity and skill.

First released in 2019, Voodoo Ranger IPA is now New Belgium’s 5th bestselling brand.  New Belgium releases a new rotating IPA three times per year and now your vote can determine what’s launched.

Vote Voodoo election results will be announced on October 1st and the winning beer will become available in January 2021.

AB InBev Brewery Workers Strike In Belgium After COVID-19 Outbreak

A COVID-19 outbreak at the AB InBev-owned Jupille Brewery has led to a strike which has shut down the Liège-based facility, potentially halting production of Belgium’s popular Jupiler beer.

On September 4, brewery management announced in a press release that nine of its employees working in the logistics department of the Jupille brewery tested positive for Covid-19. But the first two of those infections were discovered almost a week earlier, news that was kept under wraps until last Friday.

“These cases are concentrated only in the logistics department. Other departments such as brewing and packaging are not concerned. The 9 colleagues represent about 1% of the total staff of the brewery,” the company said, adding that it would continue to “to monitor the situation closely.”

Responding to the potentially dangerous work environment and the brewery’s lack of transparency, employees stopped working on Friday and the brewery shut down
