Rumor Mill – Baseball Beer, New Farm Brewery Bill In Oregon And More!

March is ON…and the craft beer biz isn’t slowing down any time soon. But no worries, the Beer Buzz is always on the case, keeping you up on all the beer news and lifestyle that matters. Plus we’ve an all-important update on what we’ve been drinking lately and you don’t want to miss that.

Karbach Brewing Plays Ball With The Astros (Houston, TX) – Anheuser-Busch, and more specifically its ‘crafty’ property Karbach Brewing, has teamed up with the Houston MLB and is now brewing “official alcoholic beverage of the Astros” for the 2019 season.

The result of years of wishful thinking from Karbach Brewing and named in homage to the storied Crawford Boxes section of the Astros’ Minute Maid Park, Crawford Bock is a sessionable malt-forward Bock Lager that according to the brewery is ”reminiscent of Cracker Jacks.” (Sure, why not?)

Words To Drink By (Houston, TX) – Most of us have been life-long Astros fans…And we’ve been thinking about this for a few years.” David Graham, Karbach Brand Manager

Like Wineries, But Better (Salem, OR) – A new Senate Bill is being worked up in Oregon that would allow a “farm brewery” to brew up to 150,000 barrels of malt beverage on a hop farm of at least 25 contiguous acres according to KGW8.

A Farm Brewery, as defined by Senate Bill 287 ,would permit a wide variety of retail and tourism related activities such retail sales, tours and even bed-and-breakfast lodging on the properties.

According to the Oregon Brewers Guild, Oregon’s craft beer industry currently contributes an estimated $4.49 billion to the state’s economy, and directly employs nearly 9,500 people

What We’ve Been Drinking Lately (Hood River, OR) – pFriem Family Brewers have just canned a classic and we’ve been returning to it nightly. Hop-forward yet incredibly balanced, pFriem IPA is a multi-award-winning 6.8% ABV India Pale Ale with big piney aromatics tethered to a sturdy almost candy-like malt backbone. Yes!
