Royal Beer – Tying The Windsor Knot

royal, Royal Beer – Tying The Windsor KnotBritish royal watchers with a taste for beer will be able to celebrate Prince Harry and Meghan Markle’s wedding day with a special ale brewed in the town where the couple will get married next month.

Located only five minutes away from St. George’s Chapel in Windsor Castle, where the couple will get married in May, the Windsor & Eton Brewery has crafted their own special beer for the occasion, a sessionable pale ale they’ve tellingly named the Harry & Meghan’s Windsor Knot.

And it’s not like the Windsor & Eton Brewery are new to the whole ‘royal beer’ game. According to Delish, “the brewery previously created special edition beers for Kate and Prince William’s wedding back in 2011, and that was also called the Windsor Knot,’ and that they’ve “even crafted beers in honor of William and Kate’s children, called the Royal Cot and the Royal Tot,” so there’s that.

In a nod to the trans-Atlantic binding, Harry & Meghan’s Windsor Knot uses both American and British hops as well as champagne yeast.

“It gives a nice story about Harry & Meghan’s backgrounds,” Willie Calvert, co-owner of the Windsor & Eton Brewery, told People. “We’re using some nice, fruity hops from Yakima in Washington State, and some English hops, which are more subtly flavored. English hops tend to be more of a grassy, textured flavor — a bit more like hay — whereas New World hops have more sunlight and are more strongly flavored.”

According to the brewery, the Windsor Knot label design features a tie made out of the Union Jack and the Star & Stripes”  It also has two interlocking male and female symbols (!), so we strongly suggest that you keep it away from children.

For those insanely invested the royal coupling, you can purchase the beer at Windsor Farms starting on March 28th and begin getting in wedding mode early.

Harry & Meghan’s Windsor Knot will also be available in participating pubs in both London and Windsor as the nation careens even closer to the royal wedding.
