Black Friday Beers Still Hot

For the past nine years, Lakefront Brewery’s Black Friday beer release has grown a rabid following that now attracts beer pilgrims from all around the world. But thanks to COVID-19 there was no Black Friday gathering at the brewery for the first time since 2011.

Instead, Lakefront allocated its 2020 Black Friday inventory — Black Friday Imperial Stout aged in bourbon barrels, Black Friday Barleywine aged in bourbon barrels and Black Friday Christmas Ale aged in brandy barrels — to retail locations were they promptly sold out.

Lines of Black Friday beer lovers could be seen at Karl’s Country Market which opened in the Milwaukee Metro area at 7am. And Lakefront’s entire Black Friday beer inventory sold out in 20 minutes according to the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel.

Tecate Beer Gets Sued For Not Being Mexican

A New York man says he was duped into believing that Tecate beer is Mexican when it’s actually brewed in Holland by Dutch company Heineken, court papers show.

, Quick Hits: Tecate Beer Sued For Being Brewed In Holland / Black Friday Beers Still HotThe class action lawsuit brought by Miguel Schelmetty and others alleges that Tecate is impersonating as Mexican beer “through the brand name, the traditional Meso-American typeface, the mythical Aztec eagle emblazoned on the product and the statements ‘Original’ and ‘Cerveza,’” on the labeling, according to the lawsuit which was filed  Manhattan Federal Court on November 27.

Tecate sells for “a premium” at around $11.99 for a 12-pack according to the NY Post, which is “higher than the price of the product if it were represented in a non-misleading way,” the suit alleges.

Had Schelmetty and other consumers known Tecate is actually made in Holland “they would not have bought the product or would have paid less for them,” the court papers say.

Before COVID-19, all of Tecate beer imported into the US was brewed in Mexico, but after the pandemic hit the government shutdown its breweries, and facing shortages Heineken shifted some of its production to Holland.
