, Quick Hits: Savor 2020 Tickets Go On Sale, New Peaky Blinders Beer

The beer biz never sleeps at American Craft Beer. And here’s just some of what’s been happening in the beer world while you were drinking your way through the weekend…

Tickets To SAVOR Go On Sale This week (Washington, DC) – One of three important craft beer gatherings presented annually by the Brewer’s Association, who also sponsor the Craft Brewers Conference and the Great American Beer Festival, SAVOR is without a doubt the East Coast’s most significant craft beer gathering. And tickets to SAVOR 2020, which takes place this year on May 15th, go on sale this week.

“An American Craft Beer & Food Experience” that is now in its 13th year, SAVOR will be uniting 118 small and independent craft brewers with a team of celebrated chefs for a night of pairing perfection at The Anthem, DC’s newest and hottest waterside venue.

The Anthem first opened its doors October 12, 2017, with a headline performance by the Foo Fighters. And the 57,000-square-foot, $60 million, venue, was not only designed to showcase the entertainment world’s biggest names, but also special events like SAVOR.

SAVOR tickets go on sale to the public on Feb. 19 at 12pm ET. And  the Brewers Association and American Homebrewers Association member ticket presale will take place one day earlier, on Feb. 18. So you know what to do!

Peaky Blinders Gets A Legit Beer (UK) – Netflix recently returned the fifth season of “Peaky Blinders,” an award-wining British gangster saga that takes place in Birmingham, England in 1919, just after World War I.

With its contemporary soundtrack featuring music by artists like Nick Cave and Radiohead,Peaky Blinders” is a fictionalized account of the half- gypsy, half-Irish criminal family led by the fierce Tommy Shelby. And if you’ve yet to tap into it, you’ne been missing something special.

Now Thornbridge Brewery has partnered with media companies Endemol Shine Group and Caryn Mandabach Productions to brew Shelby IPA,  the “only legitimate” beer according to Steve Knight, the show’s creator. The IPA, which debuts on February 20, already competition from another UK brewer, Sadler’s Ales, who have been producing a “Peaky Blinders” beer line since 2014.
