The beer biz never sleeps at American Craft Beer. And here’s just some of what’s been happening while you were drinking your way through a Halloween weekend.

Beer Prices Rise around the World

Inflation, commodity shortages, labor shortage impacting transportation and logjams at ports are causing beer prices to rise around the world.

According to Bloomberg  AB InBev, the world’s largest brewer, has recently raised beer prices in some of its biggest markets, including Brazil, Colombia, Mexico, Nigeria and China.

On its Q3 earning call Heineken NV said that it was being “assertive in raising prices to offset the impact of limited barley supplies due to drought, surging aluminum costs, and “the same labor and transport bottlenecks plaguing every other industry.”

Boston Beer, home to the widely distributed Samuel Adam beer brand, will be imnplementing price hikes in 2022, which the company thinks will “look reasonable in the context of everything else.” “There is elevated everything,” said Boston Beer CEO David Burwick on a recent earnings call, we don’t believe that’s going to go down much.”

Samuel Adams Spacecraft IPA Readies for Launch

Samuel Adams is touting an “out-of-this-world” release that is leaving legions of beer lovers star struck.

Named by fans, Sam Adams Spacecraft IPA began its journey on the first-ever all-civilian space mission. Inspiration4 sent a crew of four on a multi-day journey around the planet. It also sent a special hop stash.

The 66lbs of Citra and Mosaic orbited hops became the centerpiece of Samuel Adam’s ‘stellar’ 6.7% ABV West-Coast Style India Pale Ale that according to the brewery “pushes the limits of both space and beer exploration.”

The Inspiration4 all-civilian flight represents a new era for human spaceflight and beer. But it was also about raising awareness and funds for St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital. Samuel Adams donated $100,000 towards the mission’s $200 million fundraising goal for pediatric-cancer research.

Sam Adams is already taking pre-orders for the beer online. It will be available for purchase in person at the Sam Adams Boston Brewery and Taproom starting Nov. 16, just in time for the expected peak of the Leonid meteor shower.
